I was asked to take an examination of the car on Friday cross out below afternoon, in the company with Harry Combe, which had fallen in the river on Saturday night. Found the car standing in high gear.The emergency brake applied but no holding strike threw good; the foot brake was holding good. The clutch worked properly. They presto-lite tank was turned and the tube connecting the, taht goes to the lamps in good condition. The headlight glasses,the burners were broken, pieces of glass inside the lamp. The headlights were driven back towards the radiator,and the left hand outlet manifold was quite dented, and the pan dented in the middle rear close to the rear wheels. That's as far as my examination. Mr. Cowan;- You didn't take the wheels off ? A;-No. Q;- You made a test of the emergency brake by running the car along ?A;-Yes. Q;-And it would go ? A;-Yes. Q;-And you tested the footbrake in the same way ? A;- I held the footbrake on myself. Q;-And they could roll it? A;-No. Mr Ladner;- When you moved it did the left hand wheel revolve ? A;-I could not say. Q;-Was the dent in the mainfold close to the rear wheel ? A;-What do you mean ? Mr Jackson;- In testing the car was the brake pulled up to the last notch ? A;-It was pulled to the last notch. Q;- It was not pulled over ?
