1. 11 Sidney Johnson, Twiggs Island, Fraser River, Richmond Municipality, B.C. farmer, being duly sworn, saith;-

Saturday evening I was just coming to town, I saw the jitney coming between the two bridges, thought to myself he was coming too fast.

Coroner;- What did you do next? A;- I went on the bridge after the car had gone past. Q;- And then what did you do when the car had passed? Did you observe it after it had got on the bridge? A;- Yes. Q;- Which way were they travelling, coming this way? A;- Coming to Vancouver. Q;- And you followed right after the auto did you? A;- Yes, I followed after the car. Q;- And what did you observe? A;- I saw it was going too fast to pull up at the gates, so I made haste- next thing I noticed he was through the gates and into the water. Q;- When you came on to the bridge did you observe the light showing? A;- Yes; the light was plain. Q;- What color was showing? A;- Red light 3/4 Q;- Did you observe distinctly whether the gates were closed? A;- Yes; the gates was closed. Q;- Did you hear any sound when the auto struck these gates? A;- I heard it crash through the gates. I made haste. Q;- Was it a loud crash? A;- Not very loud. Q;- Sounded as though something was breaking? A;- Yes. Juror;- About where was you on the bridge when the auto passed you? A;- Just coming out of the gate at Mr Dodson's house. Q;- You hadn't got on the bridge? A;- Nine feet away from the bridge.
