Mr Beck; - Would a frosty night produce a mist on the water? A; - I don't think.

Q; - Did it? A clear frosty hard frost is there generally a mist on the water? Did it?

A; - I didn't notice any frost on the clear night.

Q; - Do you remember? A; - Yes, I do remember.

Q; - Was there or was there not?

A; - I didn't see it.

Q; - Was there or was there not any?

A; - I saw none. On a night as fine as that, I would call a pretty clear night.

Q; - Did the boat pass through the draw before the auto come on?

A; - Not that night.

Q; - It didn't pass through the draw?

A; - It stayed kind of crossways.

Q; - East of it? A; - The side of it - they way it came from.

Q; - Did the boat go through before the auto went into the water? A; - No, sir.

Q; - Did it pass through that night at all?

A; - No, sir.

Q; - How does that draw work? does the south end fall west, or does it fall east? do you understand me, does it go upstream or does it go downstream?

A; - Goes generally downstream, in fact it can go both ways.

Q; - Have you got any orders as to which way it shall turn?

A; - I use my judgement.

Q; - Who is your employer? A; - Richmond Municipality.

Q; - Do you get your cheque from them? A; - Yes.

Q; - What is the law regarding the speed going over a bridge in the province of British Columbia? You have been bridge tender for six years? A; - Yes.

Q; - What is the law regarding autos coming on it?
