Q; - This car was coming inside the two, that is you seen it in the center of the bridge? A; - Yes.

Q; - Then that car would be coming directly towards you?

A; - Yes.

Q; - Not being a driver, are you prepared to state the car was coming directly towards you at twenty-five miles an hour?

A; - Yes; I would say it did.

Q; - And what means did you take to gauge it?

A; - I had the bridge three parts open and he was quite easily half way, and when I got the bridge swung he come up on the bridge.

Q; - And are you prepared to state positively the car was going twenty-five miles an hour?

A; - I should judge that.

Q; - By what skill? A; - I know he was going much too fast.

Q; - Have you any experience to enable you to judge that?

A; - I know I have ridden in them myself.

Q; - Which car did you go up to the Municipal Hall in?

A; - Mr Wrights.

Q; - Was it an overland or a Ford?

A; - It is a Ford I think.

Q; - How fast did you come up from there?

A; - I was talking to the chief; I didn't notice when we were coming along the street.

Q; - You were down to the bridge? A; - No.

Q; - Are you aware that Mr Smith is a careful man in operating a car running cars over the bridge?

A; - No; I don't know.

Q; - Do you know how many gears a car has?

A; - No, sir.

Q; - Do you think a man in the car would be better able to gauge the speed of the car than you are?
