November 20 Monday 1916

Report back to the hospital, walk in afternoon by Craigflower bridge and the Gorge - rather too much for me. Leave stamps for sale with Miss Forbes. Write Jack Mitchell's father.

'Rolly' Whyte comes out to the hospital & we go for a walk. F.O. Morris figures up scheme to crown grant L.21913. To George's with Ada in evening - both decide to become anarchist - returning to hospital convoy in profuse Tommy over-exhilarated . He was hanging to my Sam Brown and nearly fainted when the Sgt. of the Guard told him I was an officer.

Maj. Harvey returns - Capt.Wallis , my old platoon commander appears for boarding. Pay for my new tunic - that scroundrilly tailor charging $1 for the wounded badge.

Death of Emperor Franz Josef officially announced.
