August 14.----Italian advance on the Carso;  enemy's
 
lines to the west of San Grado and Mt. Pecinka
 
and 1,400 prisoners taken.  Russians crossing the
 
Zlota Lipa and Bystrzyca.  Great artillery activity
 
north and south of the Somme.

August 15.----General Brusiloff reaches the Zlota
 
Lipa to south of Brzezany;  Russian attacks in
 
the Horozanka region.  General Lechitsky reaches
 
Solotwina.  Russian captures from beginning of
 
offensive 358,000 prisoners.  General Smuts through
 
the Nguru Hills;  Bagamoyo occupied by naval
 
forces.  The King returns to England after visiting
 
the Army in France.

Nookes Takes me to Read's Bottling works-Peace Time output 100,000 bottles
 
 
August 16.----French advance on Somme front; a
 
line of trenches on a front of a mile taken, and
 
Guillemont-Maurepas road reached;  enemy positions
 
east of Maurepas-Clery road taken on a front
 
of 1 1/4 miles.  British advance west and south-west of
