August 10.----Fall of Stanislau to General Lechitsky; Russians cross the Zlota Lipa and advance on Halicz; Sakharoff crosses the Sereth and advances toward the Lemberg-Odessa railway. British advance north of Bazentin-le-Petit and north-west of Pozieres. French occupy Hill 227, south of Doiran.

August 12.--Advance of General Shcherbatcheff against the Austrian centre; General von Bothmer in retreat from the Strypa, and falling back on the Bug and Zlota Lipa. Russians west of the Zlota Lipa in Mariampol. French capture the German third line from the Somme to Hardecourt to a depth of 1,000 yards on a 4-mile front; 1,000 prisoners. British advance north-west of Pozieres to a depth of 400 yards on a mile front. Italians occupy Oppacchiasella. Hostile seaplane raid on Dover.
