<p>The imposing block of buildings in Bouverie Road West, erected originally for the Art Treasures Exhibition in 1886, is now the property of the Folkestone Pleasure Gardens Company, Limited, of which the Earl of Radnor is chairman.  The theatre, which seats 1,200 persons, is located in the central nave, and is approached through a spacious foyer and corridors, which are largely used for promenading during the intervals.  it is visited by all the leading Operatic and Dramatic Companies on tour, and is open throughout the year.  In an annexe is a large gymnasium, with a specially equipped medical department, and a cycle school in which badminton is also played during the winter.  The gardens, about seven acres in extent, are laid out in lawn tennis and croquet courts, all admirably kept.  Croquet tournaments are held in the spring and autumn, and an important lawn tennis tournament, attended by many leading players in August.  Visitors may join the lawn tennis and croquet clubs for a moderate fee.  A prominent feature of the season's attractions are the illuminated evening concerts held in the gardens, which are converted into a veritable fairy land.  The music is provided by massed military bands of about 100 performers.
