affected by the war very much at least all the shops are going full swing and the main streets <u>packed</u> with people, how they make out on food these times beats me. they are undoubtable short but still they seem to scrape along, the poorer people are feeling the pinch of course the most those who pay the price can still live fairly well.

The city of course is full of British troops, something the Kaiser little dreamt Cologne would witness! I went and saw the Cathedral. tremendous size and all that, but inside it was pretty bare, they removed a lot of valuable things I believe as they were scared of our planes landing bombs on the place. Well Father I certainly agree with what you say about the G.S. one gets a bit sick of seeing all the hot air in the papers that they are peddling and I'm afraid old Wilson won't be
