My dear Father,

My dear Father,

I believe the last letter I wrote was to Dugold from the Strand Palace. I know I owe you one so here goes. You and Mother will have to go haves on letters, as one hasn't a great deal of time for writing in camp, so one letter will have to do you both! I was very lucky getting such a decent bit of leave and I must say I enjoyed it thoroughly. Well I came back to this camp last Monday and have since been busy on a Topographical Course (this sounds very fine) but it consists really in Map reading, sketching and use of Prismatic Compass etc. etc. quite interesting and very useful no doubt, but I must say I will be glad to get on to something a little more exciting, such as Gas, Boming etc. The actual course with the Machine Gun I believe lasts at least 6 weeks, so I'm afraid I don't stand much chance of getting over to France for sometime, as there are so many different courses one has to take, of course one can't expect to go over with out some instruction in these things, but I must
