service that E has put in, with the D.S.O. too. I must say they do some funny things in the Army. I don't remember Beattie, the officer Father says is taking command. Eric didn't go much on the Willows bunch, from what I can gather, he liked Major McGuire all right and I always did too. The "Pems" will certainly miss Eric very much, its a pity he couldn't have put in the summer while he was out there.

So, Phillipa Holmes has a wee daughter, Eh - its a case of "Good Gracious, God Bless my Soul"! Armine is frightfully bucked at being an aunt, rather amusing! I seem to have been an uncle now for years!

Today, the C.M.Gs had their annual sports meet. I went out this afternoon and watched for a bit, quite an affair, tremendous crowds, but chiefly a khaki crowd! The C.M.Gs cleaned up nearly all the Infantry Reserve BNs in the different events, and they also beat some American team at a "Ball Game" 2-3. Personally I don't care a d-- for baseball, but they seem quite keen about it here. The oval where the games took place was very gay
