you have the hardest part on these expeditions, & I hope you don't think I am ungrateful for all you do Mother; my visits are really always so rushed, that I hardly find time to collect my thoughts. I haven't any news, the weather has been simply vile today, the rain held off till about 11 a.m. but has since made up for lost time, it is beastly cold too, I find this reading room here pretty comfortable on such evenings as these. I believe now the date of my departure for the East has been altered, another platoon will likely be going out instead of mine, & I will not be leaving
