My quarters are in quite a decent though rather draughty celler, it's not very big but pretty strong, a thick brick roof, slightly arched. The house on top is of course chiefly in bits, the roof collapsed last night, rather a good thing as I set a couple of men to work cutting up the rafters for fire wood, as a result am enjoying the luxury of a brazier, it has already warmed the place wonderfully and in spite of occasional spells of weeping caused by the smoke its a great comfort.
