Darling Mum:-  I expect you know by now I am in "Dear old Blighty" again as I managed to get a card to [tolby?]telling her to drop you a line, so you would know I was alright. Mole tells me Dad is getting on fine, one consolation, he will be alright for the duration now. I am glad he isn't still at the front as I would worry about him a lot more now I have been there, as I know what it is like now. I am feeling fine now, getting over the Trench fever. It was mostly shock that brought it on. A shell exploded within a few feet of the hole I was in and the shock took my breath away for a minute and I fell sick after that. I am a bit shaky yet, so that accounts for the writing Fred Eels is in hospital somewhere,
