Dear Fred I got your letter and post cards some time ago but on the square I have been so busy I never had time to answer before. We came out of the trenches last night for a six days rest and I can tell you we needed it as we have just finished a mighty exciting time especially the night before last when an attack was made on the German trenches opposite our position which resulted in a heavy loss to the enemy and caused much excitement all along the line.
