2/12/17 Dear Elizabeth. I received Your kind letter about 4 days ago, and was very pleased to hear from You.We are having a rest for awhile. We are in billets, it's very nice to get away from them shells and bullets, for awhile. I've not heard from Price lately, I did get a letter from Bert. I'm glad he is gone back to the coast for the winter. I suppose You are having cold weather and snow in Vernon now. This is a most filthy country compared with Canada, it is very windy and rather cold. Yesterday we got a nice pair of home knitted socs donated by the daughters of the empire they were the best we ever had so far. Most of the officers are new ones I do not think any of the ones You mentioned in your letter are here now
