I was no end pleased to get your letter as I thought everyone in Vancouver had forgotten my existence so long was it since I had heard from anyone. I always appreciate your letters for you have a happy knack of condensing all the pithiest morsels of gossip into a small space. I have been here since September last when I got fed up with being in London and decided to have a shot at getting back to France. When I got married I brought Vera down here after a priceless week at Torquay and here we seem to be settled indefinitely. It was a bit slow for her at first but now she has met most of the people who matter we really manage to put in quite a lot of joie de vivre. Major Fell is with the Engineers Dept and appears at most functions and is responsible for a good many parties. We went over to Bexhill to play golf last week-end and Bertie Young was also with us. He is a great pal of the missus and teaches her golf but I don’t think he’ll do any home-wrecking just yet. Gardner who was adjutant of the 7th is G.O.C. and has been mighty good to me and given me a job here on headquarters so we are always in the swim.
