I am a [illegible] person I fear in that I should have delayed so long in answering your charming letter but my only excuse is the continuous daily and nightly work at the house which happily at last came to an end yesterday and I am leaving for the East tomorrow to get ready for the election which should be over I hope before the Xmas bells ring.
