I the [?] future & faithful spouse -  will really be at the head of a great institution viz "The British Army" , what ?  I'm just writing for all those over there who are senior to me,  to get killed off, & then I stroll over as Commander-in-Chief of the British Armies.  I suppose that is good example for you, eh?  In any case, however, I wrote that you will still flirt with me on my return. My dearest old Dodie,

Thanks ever so much for your letter of 16 Aug, & also for the sympathy extended to me for my continued sojourn in England. It is not for any sin ( for I haven't committed any though it may be a sin of omission) or fore "sight" as you suggest, but simply as your account - you are the cause of it all - Providence is the wonderful way , is thus preserving me from all harm, that I may return in her own good time, & become your most faithful spouse. What ho! You are a lucky gal.

Why, you sadly old ass, don't you realize that this "very wonderful palmist" is perfectly correct. I like the "still" for you always refused to flirt with me, notwithstanding my broad hints, & of course I shall return with my pockets lined with gold, but you'll have a devil of a fright to get a "look in" even with such a [?] as I shall be, let alone my many decorations, titles & all that sort of thing, dont you [?].
