dear old Van: How I do

dear old Van: again. How I do long for it & my wife even worse than I do if that is possible. Dode, I think I am the happiest man in the world & if only the war was over everything would be perfect. I had my photo taken not long ago & when I get some more I will send you one, if you dont want it use it for lighting the fire. I wonder if you saw an account of a very successful raid made by the 7th![?] the other day. They accounted for 90 Huns, 46 prisoners & 2 machine guns & had only two casualties themselves, that was my battalion & a great bit of work. Well Dode I have no more news. Do remember me most kindly to your people, Sister, Broughams, Reids, his Mcpherson[?], MClorys [?] & any of my old friends. Do write again when you have time. Yours always Mttw V. Sloek[?]
