Sat'dy Aug 12  Hot.  Watched 11 aeroplanes working tog'r + being shelled.  At night moved up to Bn H.Q.  Dropped off at Scottish Wood.  No one there but cook.  Sand bag bomb proof - quite comfortable but in easy reach of guns.

Sund 13  Major Latta Maj Graham + Capt Andrews returned from trenches 6 am.  Slack day .  Batteries everywhere firing intermittently.  Looked over the neighbourhood scenes of land conflicts.  All country full of shell holes but not recent.  Vourmazeil [Voormezele] convent + gate where PPCLI Man s'd to have been crucified.  At night handed over 12 Pl C Co + all went for night to [illegible] trench.  Heavy firing on the front + on batteries behind but only bullets in our trench.  German whiz bangs v. impressive.  [Tor drift?] there
