My dear brother

My dear brother

Your letter written at Christmas time has just arrived recording your feelings on the result of the Election and telling me the news of the family.  A long and welcome letter from Fowkes came at the same time.  It is of course most generous of you both to maintain my interest in the partnership in such a large fashion but I still do not regard it as fair in view of your heavy contributions of money + time to the war + increased cost of living.  When I get my captain's pay I shall try + arranged to assign all the increase to Nell (NELL) for the children's education.

How to fit Harry for his struggle for a livelihood is indeed a difficult problem at this time.  If he shows any proper desire to improve himself I should like to give him every opportunity for he will need it most.  I wonder if he shows any spirit of adventure
