That was the HQ of our Bn when the front line was at St. Eloi - it looks peaceful & pleasant but it was severely shelled and while I was there we had some fatal casualties at that spot. If you saw the surrounding country you would hardly believe that such a pleasant looking place could exist. That sketch of a sandbag dugout that I sent you was of our Co. H.Q. & reserve when Bn H.Q. was at this spot. I am going to have these serials sent out to Ince for preservation for they will be of interest to those who survive. |
