That sound incredible I know but it is perfectly true. There are some things I can't get over at all & the worst is the smell of most trenches. This one is all right though there are plenty of dead bodies they are not old.

The only joyful moment of this work is when one has been relieved & got safely back to camp because the getting back itself is no picnic. Fritz attends to that. It is curious to remember with what unintelligent interest
