However we secured the men a good hot meal & I hope we shall get one ourselves. I have no coat. My trench coat was lost in the trenches & I have not been able to get another since but have ordered one - we make such short stays everywhere the parcels make slow delivery though if properly packed & secured they generally arrive. Those parcels are quite a blessing. I think I shall ask some English friends & Carleton to send me something once in a way but one hates asking where there are so many demand | ||

My dear brother
There are others to write to but in these times it is very hard to write to those one feels do not understand.
We are now supposed to be putting in hard & special training - the work is hard enough but the special training is yet to come. There is not much time.
It has been pretty miserable today - an early start, a rotten breakfast, 4 mile march in heavy marching order to the training ground (this means packs for officers as well as men, then uninteresting training in the rain.
The men like myself soaked to the skin but the men unlike myself without a change or a blanket then in the p.m. a similar march back. No means of drying anything. However we secured the men a good hot meal & I hope we shall get one ourselves. I have no coat.
