We duly arrd at our railhead to the tune of cannonading, but only of a mild type, and were taken to our headquarters in a London bus. As it was night time we had a good demonstration of star shell fireworks wh are very pretty from a distance.

We had a lot of difficulty in finding our quarters but got there eventually & were very hospitably received.

To my surprise I found that Charley Pooly was ¼ master & it was very pleasant to meet a friend - He did & is doing all he can for us - it makes a tremendous difference.
