By the way I find that I am decidedly old for a platoon officer. It would have been a great thing to have a captaincy before leaving because the idea amongst those one meets is that if I am not a Capt. I ought to be.

A big biplane has just flown over the camp with a noise like a sawmill or better still a steamer letting off steam. this last 16 days has indeed been crowed [sic] with new experiences but I don't seem able to write much yak [or yet?].
