I will number my letters to you beginning at the time that I came to France. In case you don't get the first (which was not numbered) my address is 73 Squadron 9th Wing R.F.C., B.E.F. , France.

Well dear ones we have not been over the lines yet, though we have been over just behind them and had a good look at them in the course of making a thorough acquaintance with the country over which we shall work. The weather at present is not so "dud" so we have been able to get in a little flying. This morning we flew over one of the most famous points on the western front and saw what a thoroughly shelled and devastated area is like. The destruction is certainly most complete.
