-THE EXAMINATION of J B Matthews of said City of Victoria, taken on this Sixeenth day of December, in the year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventy -nine, at Victoria , in the Province aforesaid, before the undersigned, one of Her Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the said Province , in the presence and hearing of Ah Keong who is this day charged before me. This Deponent J. B. Matthews, upon oath deposeth saith as follows:
-I am a member of the Royal College of Surgeons. On the 10th of this month I examined the body of a chinaman whose name I
