Capt. Shaw (7th) other officer-patient - shell splinters thru foot at Festhubert - neither forceful in physique nor mind. Go with 20 men by special car to Alladin at the Princess - good but a bit trying - men enjoy it immensely - tackled by half-shot soldier after to complain that the Sergt. seated next me had never been overseas - only 3 hours.

Go home in the afternoon. Have breakfast & supper with the nursing staff - quite an ordeal. Housekeeper (by courtesy) matron Mrs. Hessey - rather self important. Mrs. Mason - quite a pretty girl - sister of Joe Mason of the 30th.

Carte blanche during the day. Have to report for medicine - batman allotted me - Brown an old 30th man - also Conlin & Corp. Wright - 15th MG - shot by MG bullet trench 140 - plug St. last October, year.
