Lydd Camp and London

Start observers off on puff scheme. Appear before medical board ordered to go to No 4 General London. Maj. Eady very kind. Get Beckinsale - started mounting maps. Gun roll from Flanders audible.

Go to London - lunch with Young travel with Rod Finlayson, Mandalay Extension - Denmark Hill. Bad night owing to the infernal tramcars. Several shock officers boarded & given 8 weeks leave.

First board - nothing decided Capt. Bairn's father vis-a-vis at table. Don't get out at all. Half a doz. officers - Maj. Hurtly RFA. Tall willowy girl in white waiting - or rather serving at side table - Nicholls - RFC Lt. & Capt. Murphy New Zealand. Several more wounded from the big push.
