1916 31 Days 20 THURSDAY [20-346] [20 to 26-23] January 7 O 8h 29m A.M. (Greenwich)

Took 44 Coy RGA on route march thru Hubberston & Herbandston - Afternoon 6" Gun Drill - Missfires. Keyes & Mahony order to Lydd, on an hours notice.

Maj Gordon entertaining ladies 'of sorts' in his room - Terr RGA officers inoculated. Not much sleep tonight - on duty 12-4 am in BC. Post - stormy squally night - Lights of trawlers in XK (Exam. Anchorage) Like a small town. T.B lying inside of boom

21 FRIDAY [21-345]

Orderly Office for 44 Coy - Sign duty sheets & Look after correspondence - Go in auto to Milford to draw pay for the Coy - Pay at 3 pm - Check Gun stores with Master Gun - Find one fuse (DA No. 13) opened in magazine & a Lyddite Shell in window casement instead of on boards. Concert in evening - with the Maj.'s 2 girls (of sorts) as leading lights. Toss up for 12-4 am watch & win over Moore.

22 SATURDAY [22-344]

Orderly Officer for 44 Coy RGA - In office most of day - No parades - all fatigues. Fine sunny day - Most officers away on weekend leave - Very monotonous useless life this Leave Capt Dunston, Walker & Hopgood playing bridge - Decide I can't stick this out much longer -

23 SUN - 3 aft Epiph [23-343]

Took Church Parade to Herbrandson - Afternoon to tea at the Rectory (Rev Hughes) Church 11th century On duty 4 am 8 pm
