a wire curtain. The wire destroyed by this party was 20'wide, 12 foot deep &5 strands high. M.G. emplacements at N24d9.8 (?) being repaired by enemy. - New earth & clay were shovelled over German parapet-the blue clay would point to the fact that they must be excavating some 10 feet. Sappers report Germansworking in sap opp. our sap in T.15N. Noises as of a concrete mixer at work have been hear-continued activity of the enemy opposite the craters (Oct 9th) seems to point to a determination on their part to make use of them to the utmost. Aeroplanes - 2d Div report hostile aeroplanes moved South to North 12 noon & 4 pm - but disappeared on appearance of our aircraft.
