Sunday September 12th

Spent whole day in orderly room plotting 1/2500 map

18 Pdr Battery to W. of HQ lets loose this afternoon - one shell burst prematurely and we get the full benefit of it, but luckily no one hit - must have been a defective fuse or a mistake in setting. The gunners say it is U.S. made ammunition & was probably tampered with in the factory by pro-Germans.
