Oct. 20th

Measures taken by Germans for observing and engaging hostile aircraft from secret documents which fell into the hands of the French during recent operations in Argonne it would appear that the Germans have developed an elaborate system of observing & reporting of Allied Aircraft.

Observation posts along the front are linked up by telephone with a central post in each Army Corps Area, about 12 miles in rear. Various Corps Posts are joined to Army Posts further in rear which in their turn warn the posts on the lines of communication; or the posts of the Armies on the Flanks according to the direction which the aeroplane is travelling. Means of offensive action are both stationary & mobile Anti-Aircrafts, MGs are located at each of the Corps & L. of. C. posts. Special guns mounted or
