in Victoria was with him. Dugald will remember him, he used to come to our dances, he was pretty badly used up at Mons & is no longer in Army now. Have also seen Adrian Fletcher, Eric Bolton & and a few others. Douglas Bullen I hear has just gone over to France. We have been here exactly a week now. we arrived here at 2 am last Monday, it was an unGodly hour to get in, the rain was coming down in buckets, we had to march about 2 miles to the camp, however we had a good band to meet us at the the station which helped out, we are all under canvas of course. Oliphant & I are in a little bell tent together. The country around here is certainly very pretty, everything is looking so nice and green & crops seem to be coming up well. We are quite near the sea, The coast line is all of the chalk formation with high cliffs. I hope my cable fetched up OK. I sent it off from Liverpool & also posted a letter to Pa as soon as I landed. We had a very good passage over, though at times it was a little rough. I was never so amazed in my life as I made out fine & turned up for every meal including soup at 11 am & tea at 4 pm! I am sure Grace's Remedy must have been the thing, but of course I also had quite a bit to occupy my time as I was detached off the last 4 days on a special submarine watch, here again I found old Cross's glasses most useful, there were 8 officers
