prizes won at athletic sports (May 18 - 24). The Baron made a very nice & tactful speech. In p.m. each man was given a glass of Pilsner beer. Beautiful weather.

Aug 4. Wed. Recd note fr T. fr Dres. of 14 July, about a 21 day old, enclosing long letter fr Edie from home also 1 page typewritten fr Mother & one or two newspaper clippings. Hence the delay. The letters were marked by censor "Viel zu ausfuhrlich" & there was an extra notice fr censor to effect that things had been delayed on account of quantity. Also a card fr T & Edith fr Berlin on their way to Sweden.

Aug 5. Thurs. Sold 2 caricatures of 'Pyro' @ 7.50; 15 - (Dr. Ettinghausen & Mr. Conaut).

Aug 8. Sunday. Shaved off beard a.m. Ambassador Gerard & others visited camp p.m. Heard prom concert & 1 act of "the Silver Box".

Aug 10. Tues. Card fr T fr Falstubs, Sweden. Posted letter to her.

Aug 13. Card to Wentworth - Wiesbaden. Letter fr Tottie fr Sweden, Aug 9. enclosing letter fr Mother July. Tottie told me of Edith's engagement to Hans Kaier.
