Aug 18. An official statement in the local papers says that, in spite of all rumours to the contrary, no persons have been shot as spies is Dresden. Spent the afternoon at the Warrens in hotel Carlton, and evening at the Meiers. Tolties eye still bad, but better

Aug 19. Working on Dresden Street sketches all day. Rumours that Japan is preparing to go against Germany. Attempt upon the life of the King of Belgium. The Pope "Pius X" died today

Aug 20. Dined at "Kaiser Palast" menu cost 75d, same as before the war. For a long walk with Miss Cator in p.m. at Meiers in evening.
