Aug 13. Eng declared war against Austria Passports of all Eng. French & Russians have to be examined at the police head quarters & stamped. Had mine attended to this morning. Herr and Frau Schoenfeld up to tea in my studio in p.m. Herr S. is a German reserve officer & one of the editors of the Salonblatt, his wife is English. Out walking with Frl von Polempkin (Russian) in evening.

Aug. 14. Very little news seems to be coming from the front. Dined at the beiers and had supper with Pauterupkins. Also called on Mrs. Warren
