from England, America & Canada etc. which had arrived in Dresden about a week ago. Spent most of the day at Carlton hotel painting Billie Warren. Saw Eckardt (miniature painter) in morning. So far the prices of very few articles of food have been raised. Eggs & butter are slightly dearer.

Sunday Aug 9. The congregation of "All Saints" English church attended at the American Church this a.m. as no service was held at "All Saints". Report that a small Eng. cruiser, the "Amphion" & a small Ger. Steamer "Konigin Luise" had sunk each other near the mouth of the Thames. Out for drive & to tea with the
