July 10th. Very busy all day. Cycled to ECOURIE in afternoon. Saw Capt Johnson. Major Gibb C.R.O. also called. My man brought the bike back & Major took me back in his car. Austin came. Had a pleasant evening as the evening before.

July 11th Went Group H.Q. The King inspected troops, my men included, at ECOURIE. Letter from Jesse, Tozer. Leave not granted.

July 12th. Busy all day.

July 13th. My men heavily shelled at ECOURIE. 150 men working & none injured but five others killed. One shell was gas. I went there in the afternoon & saw the shell holes. Very busy. Austin staying the night.

July 14th. Cycled with Austin to see his platoon at Ecoines then on to see my men at ECOURIE. No shelling. In evening heavy rain & heavy bombardment on. Several air fights. Bombard in the morning. Wrote Brooks.
