Mar 16 Cycled into H.Q. Saw C.O. Very busy on rounds . Nice Day. Received photos from Lafayette. Letter from mother. Issued rum to the men - they liked it.

May 17th Went into AVESNES. Saw Capt Thomas R.B. Drew 1700 frs for men's pay. Very busy all day.

May 18th - Sun. Paid out. Busy on rounds. Parcel from mother. Photo of the Colonels. Letter from Father. Very nice day. Bad eye.

Mar 19th Cycled to AVESNES. Saw Thomas. Motored with him to DUISANS with pay. Very rough day. Good war news. Heavy rain.

Mar 20th Very busy. Good news. Snow & rain.

Mar 21st. Very busy in Orderly Room. Snow & wind. Sky on fire in the distance. Glare of burning villages behind ARRAS.
