miners for 2½ hours & not a single soul would join up.

Feb 1st 1916 our battalion moved to Fort Renney near Plymouth in huts & I was also promoted to Lieut.

March 10th 1916 I was in charge of a musketry part at Tregantle until end of May which found me very ill so until July & in the meantime my battalion moved Overseas leaving me again behind.

July 3rd 1916 Went to Falmouth from my home to attend a Medical Board.

July 6th 1916 Proceded to Christleton Court near Swindon & was attached to the 11th D.C.L.I. & while there I made various trips to [illegible] Oxford.

Sept 20th 1916 Transferred at my own request to my present batt: the 14th Devons & proceeded at and again back to
