Dear Folks:
Well Father I got your letter last night and the two bundle of papers. Mother’s parcel I got a few days before. Gee that was some cake. Well I sure have put in a great little spurt of work. Since I wrote last I can’t say much about it. But I always wanted to be in a real big straffe and believe me I sure had that wish satisfied to my entire satisfaction. talk about work. Say I perspired that much that I had to leave the gun. the sweat running down into my eyes till I could not see, to set the range drum. did you ever have it that way. my but it burns your eyes. but I would not have missed it for anything for there sure is a lot of satisfaction in it. and when your guns goes out of action. It sure makes you mad. because you feel as though it is not going right if you are not fireing. but when we were out of action we were packing ammunition for those that were in. Our gun got so hot that it melted the solder on a little sleeve that was on to a longer tube. So you can imagine how hot that was. I wish I could tell you the number of rounds we fired.
