Dear Fred

I am going to write a few lines any way as I have not the time to write more. You will see I am in Blighty again. Been here some over two weeks. We were 25 days on the ship. Had two short spells of sub threat but they turned out to be British craft. Also once in mid ocean a strang smoke showed up We veered off but it turned out to be O.K. Were quite a large convoy. Had a very steady ship & not too crowded but the WX was not good. too much fog & cold & rain. I have not met any one I know as we are off the line of concentration of my old comrades. I expect to be sent on leave in a few days & shall go to Eastbourne. I would like to go to London as there I might see some old comrades but I want still more to go home & on the pay I get
