Sunday 11.30 A.M. Petawawa Camp Aug. 5/17

My Dear Mother:

We got your letter the other day, and hope you received mine,

At present I am on main guard. We mounted last night at 5 o'clock and dismount to-night at 7. I am on the Bank of Montreal guard. I have two hours on beat and four off. When we are not on our beat we have to stay around the guard room. Last night two prisoners escaped
