five men who were going into them on guard, but we managed to get them off. Our battery managed to come second. I made or helped make 8 out of the 16 points, which the 68th scraped together. I got 1 first, 2 second, 1 third and came 4th in the mile on a sandy track without any training. There were 20 or more started so 4th wasn't so bad.
