drill from 2 to 3 and have gun drill from 3 to 4.30, then stables for an hour. The period from 3 to 4.30 is often changed to a lecture or ride. We are to start firing practise in 10 days now. I am on piquet tonight. I go on at 6 o'clock. There are 3 piquets who guard the horse lines all night. We have two hours on and four off. We (3) have to be up at
