Fritz started up his offensive. We came out the day before he started up, & fortunately had time for a bath & clean clothes, when we had to pack up & back to the line where we have been ever since.

Dodie it would interest you to see the conditions out here when a big push is on, the roads are packed with troops coming & going to & from the front line, transport wagons, horses, guns, tanks, & refugees, that have been driven from their homes, carrying with them their few precious home-hold effects. It is really a wonderful sight, but at the same time a very sad one also, yet to me what is most wonderful is the cheerfulness of everyone. You see the boys marching to the line, many of them never to return singing "Where do we go from here Boys" which is now the catchy & favourite song they sing in France today.

I am due for my first leave after 5 months in France & Dodie just my luck of course all leave is stopped, so goodness knows when I will get any now. My, how I dream of good Vancouver and all the very best of friends
