Of course the cost of living is awful and we are perpetually broke but manage to live very comfortably in excellent rooms and if we can't get meat and butter well we just grin and do without. Give my best chin chins to everyone who will appreciate them and lots of love to your dear old self. You're the best pal I had in Vancouver so I hope you'll still be there when this damned old war is finished and take up the old strings where the cursed Kaiser broke them.
